On the dissolution of fetish forms.

Some great passages on Marx’s notes on real and formal subsumption in the 1861-63 manuscripts such as the following which gestures towards the historical specificity of the social ontology of capitalist labour as expressed in the fetish characteristic forms of value:

‘The alien property of the capitalist in this labour can only be abolished by converting his property into the property of the non-individual in its independent singularity, hence of the associated, social individual. This naturally brings to an end the fetishistic situation when the product is the proprietor of the producer, and all the social forms of labour developed within capitalist production are released from the contradiction which falsifies them all and presents them as mutually opposed.’ MECW 34 p. 109
