Ethics and Real Abstraction

This may have been done but it strikes me that Sohn-Rethel’s theory could be used to criticise the practice of ethical capitalism. In much the same way that Sohn-Rethel shows, and thus derives, the parallels between the exchange abstraction and conceptual abstraction, it seems to me that you could argue that the practice of ethical consumption is premised on the exchange abstraction. This is because this type of ethics does nothing to consider the peculiar social relations that create the exchange abstraction, rather it uses  as such an abstraction as grounds for ethical comportment. Considerations of social form and exploitation are thus blackboxed in favour of different types of consumption, consumption that treats other animals more ethically or practices that incrementally lessen the rate of exploitation.
