Althusser contra Honneth

As far as I know nobody has advanced a materialist form-analytic critique against Honneth’s notion of recognition, which it seems to me might be done along the following lines:

Exploitation does not take place in the realm of ‘intersubjective relations’ or ethereal ‘social relations’. It takes place in material conditions that are by no means arbitrary, but are, rather, the material conditions required and produced by the existing mode of production. Althusser, Marx in His Limits, p. 121
